Full service for reliable production 

NEK uses advanced CNC technology from DMG MORI and Full Service 5.0 for comprehensive machine protection over five years. 

NEK Værktøjsfabrik A/S has around 40 years of experience in the development and production of EPS, vacuum and injection molds. Long-standing customers from a wide range of target industries – from the packaging industry to medical technology – rely on the technical expertise of the 45-strong team, as NEK supports them from the initial design to the final testing of the tools on four of its own injection molding machines. The company also guarantees high quality in machining with a total of 20 3- to 5-axis machines, some of which are automated. Since 2024, this has also included three machining centers from DMG MORI: a CMX 600 V, an NHX 5000 and a DMU 40. The fact that the machine portfolio was expanded by three DMG MORI machines within the past year is primarily due to the quality promise in the form of Full-Service 5.0. The all-round carefree package offers five years of machine protection including all service and spare parts costs. 

Countering strong competition with state-of-the-art production technologies

“As a medium-sized service provider in tool and mold making, we have to impress with first-class products and implement every project from A to Z in a very customer-oriented manner,” says Sune Appel, CEO of NEK, giving an insight into the daily challenges. The competition in Denmark is very strong. “We benefit here from our many years of experience and a very broad service portfolio.” The range extends from prototypes to tools for the production of small, medium and large series with up to 1,000,000 parts – 1, 2 or 3-component tools as required. “Our strength lies in the fact that we optimize every tool down to the last detail so that our customers receive the best possible product.” After in-house testing, the tools can be delivered worldwide with a clear conscience. “On the other hand, we focus on state-of-the-art production technologies in order to meet the ever-increasing precision requirements.” Quality control is carried out here on a measuring machine from Zeiss. 

Innovative production technology for a wide range of components

Since 2024, NEK has added three DMG MORI models to its machine park. The three-axis vertical machine CMX 600 V was followed by the high-precision horizontal machining center NHX 5000 with four axes and a DMU 40 for universal 5-axis simultaneous machining. “We cover a wide range of components with these machines,” says Sune Appel, explaining the reasons for the selection to date. The high accuracies were also a decisive factor. “The NHX 5000 in particular is extremely precise and at the same time very dynamic thanks to its high stability.” However, the impressive technical data was only part of the purchasing decision, says Sune Appel: “We value partners who guarantee that their innovative production technologies will continue to work reliably at the same level for years to come.”

Full Service 5.0 is an all-round carefree package that played a key role in the decision to purchase DMG MORI machines.

Five years of machine protection in DMG MORI quality 

DMG MORI offers this warranty in the form of its Full-Service 5.0. “The service contract extends over five years and gives us a high level of security that we will get the best out of the machines in the long term,” says Sune Appel, looking at the scope of services with satisfaction. Full-Service 5.0 essentially means that DMG MORI machines are protected for five years from commissioning in accordance with warranty standards. A monthly fixed amount covers services such as spare parts and annual manufacturer maintenance. This has already been carried out for the first time on the CMX 600 V purchased in 2024. Sune Appel sees a further advantage in the fact that the machines are serviced and repaired exclusively by DMG MORI service technicians: “Of course, this also includes original spare parts.” In this way, the history of the machines is not affected by the use of third-party companies. 

Immediate repair approval and one contact person for the entire process 

Full Service 5.0 also protects the machine - and therefore production - in the event of damage. “Crash insurance is included and DMG MORI takes care of the entire process. We therefore have one contact person who can approve the repair immediately - without a prior expert opinion on the cause of the damage and without limiting the amount of damage,” says Sune Appel, describing the uncomplicated handling, for example in the event of spindle damage. There is also no deduction for wear and tear. The all-round carefree package can be easily financed when purchasing a machine and can also be taken out three months after the purchase.

Transparent service with my DMG MORI

NEK now also uses the my DMG MORI online customer portal, an ideal complement to Full Service 5.0. Thanks to the uncomplicated transmission of the damage report (supported by images), which is also the service request, service calls can be processed even faster in future.  The service staff can then immediately forward the case to the right technician. “The system is completely transparent, so we can see the current status at any time,” says Sune Appel, drawing a positive conclusion. Documents relating to the machines can also be exchanged in a user-friendly way via my DMG MORI. “The customer portal is therefore an ideal addition to the all-round carefree package of Full Service 5.0.”

Sune Appel sees Full Service 5.0 as a crucial building block in the kind of partnership he envisions. With this offer, DMG MORI underpins the trust in the advanced machine tools right from the start of the collaboration: “In other words: We use the latest manufacturing technologies to guarantee our high-quality standards, and at the same time we can be sure that any machine downtime will be reduced to a minimum.”
